Description
A group of graduate students studying Disaster Studies at an English university are forced to confront their cynicism when a new student joins their class, sharing the same name as Simone Weil. This scathing comedy explores the human condition through the misadventures of these twenty-something PhD students. Their lives are marked by underconfidence and grandiosity, as well as a lack of academic success. The group's immediate enemies are the Business Studies students at their university, while they strive to make sense of their lives in Manchester, particularly with regards to the mysterious Ees countryside. A new student named Simone Weil joins their class, bringing an air of intensity and seriousness. As the group works on a film project, Simone becomes the unlikely star, challenging Valentine's perception of her as a fellow idealist. Meanwhile, Gita is suspicious of Simone's unconventional attire, and Marcie is too distracted by her infatuation to notice.
