Description
This 2016 picture book tells the true story of Innosanto Nagara's night in the Jakarta Planetarium with his mother. It was an evening that would change his life forever.
Innosanto, then just seven years old, had a front-row seat to a theatrical performance about a General who didn't treat people well. The play sparked a conversation about colonialism and revolution, themes that were all too familiar in Indonesia at the time. The author's own experiences with speaking out against the government as a child are also woven into the story.
On its surface, My Night in the Planetarium is a heartwarming tale of one night under the stars. But look closer and you'll discover a rich history and culture that spans centuries and continents.
