Description
BrownMark's memoir takes readers on a journey through his life in the musical orbit of one of the most visionary artists of his generation. From his teenage years rehearsing with his high school band to becoming Prince's bassist, BrownMark shares his story of coming of age in music. Born and raised in Minneapolis, BrownMark's musical awakening began as a boy, listening to R&B music on his transistor radio. He soon took up the bass guitar and never looked back, entering a new realm that would catapult him onto the international stage. This book chronicles how he joined Prince and The Revolution, toured the world, and performed in Purple Rain. With raw honesty and wit, BrownMark recounts his experiences, from the early days of rehearsing with Phantasy to signing with Motown Records. His story is one of a hometown kid who found success in the funk revolution that integrated the Minneapolis music scene.
