Description

Jenn Shapland's My Autobiography of Carson McCullers A Memoir is a deeply personal exploration of identity, queerness, and memory. When she discovers letters written to Carson McCullers by Annemarie, a woman who shares her own experiences, Jenn becomes fixated on uncovering the truth about this literary icon. As Jenn delves deeper into Carson's life, she begins to question how we tell queer love stories and why women's narratives are often overshadowed. Her investigation leads to a vital new portrait of Carson McCullers, one that reveals the complexities of her legacy and the power of storytelling in shaping our understanding of ourselves. Through her own story intertwined with Carson's, Jenn Shapland creates a thought-provoking exploration of how we come to know ourselves through the writers we love.
