Description

Murmur is a poetry collection that explores the world through sound and silence. Menna Elfyn's work delves into the reverberations of dead poets, the murmurings of the heart, and the distance between words and worlds. The book includes poems about the last princess of Wales, Catrin Glyndwr, who was incarcerated in the Tower of London for over two years until her mysterious death. This sequence is part of a broader exploration of the poet's lot, with its irregular beat. The title "Murmur" also reflects the Welsh word for wall, highlighting the tension between language and silence. As one of Europe's leading poets, Menna Elfyn brings an extraordinary international range to her work, combined with breathtaking inventiveness and generosity of vision.
