Description
Michael Rosen's Mr Mensh offers a humorous and thought-provoking view of everyday life, exploring themes such as family dynamics, politics, and social issues. This collection is set in a secular Jewish family in North London in the 1950s, where characters like Mr Klutz and Mr Bubkes navigate the absurdities of daily life. The book delves into topics that are both universally relatable and timely, including anti-Semitism, Racism, and Fascism, as well as the End of Austerity. With its unique blend of wit and insight, Mr Mensh is a clever follow-up to Rosen's previous Smokestack collections, solidifying his reputation as a master of observational poetry. This collection is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in exploring the complexities of human experience through verse.
