Description

Walter O'Malley, the man behind one of baseball's most infamous moves, is often remembered as a villain. However, his story is more complex and nuanced than that. In "Mover & Shaker", Andy McCue presents an objective account of O'Malley's life, revealing him as a rational businessman who transformed the game through his management and marketing practices. O'Malley's rise to prominence was marked by both self-construction and distortion. His early life story was embellished, while later accounts were coloured by negative perceptions from those who opposed his move to Los Angeles. McCue sets the record straight, presenting a complete and balanced picture of O'Malley's life and career. This book offers a fresh perspective on one of baseball's most fascinating figures, shedding light on the man behind the myth.
