Description
A young boy with no empathy, who can be completely indifferent to another person's suffering, is given a new job by an inexperienced teacher. This intense battle of wills takes place in a classroom, where the boy's violent tendencies and lack of fear are put to the test. The outcome is far from certain, as the teacher struggles to connect with a child who seems to care for no one and is afraid of nothing. The result is a gripping confrontation that raises questions about the limits of human compassion and the challenges of working with troubled young people. Written by Duncan MacMillan, this powerful play was first performed in 2007 at the Royal Exchange, Manchester.
