Description

Sweden, 1894. A Midsummer night's celebration is in full swing, but for Miss Julie, the beautiful and imperious Count's daughter, it's just another night feeling trapped and alone. In the servants' kitchen downstairs, handsome footman Jean is restless, and when they meet, a passion ignites that soon spirals out of control. Strindberg's masterpiece presents a shocking and revolutionary portrait of the class system and human sexuality, causing controversy on its first production in 1889 and subsequent performances. This new version by David Eldridge combines accessibility with fluency, bringing Strindberg's modern vision to life while remaining faithful to the original work.
