Description

London's migrant community shares their stories in this innovative collaborative ethnography. Thirty adult migrants and two sociologists explore the impact of mobility regulation, surveillance, and control in a globalised world. Through personal recollections, photographs, poems, paintings, journals, and drawings, they reveal the complexities of everyday life under immigration control. Their experiences range from the effects of waiting for Home Office processing to the friendships that make London feel like home. This book offers a unique perspective on migration, race, ethnicity, social exclusion, globalisation, and urban sociology, using inventive research methods. It will appeal to those interested in these topics and seeking a nuanced understanding of contemporary London's diverse communities.
