Description
Vampires have long been a presence in Eastern Europe, but their influence has now spread across the continent and beyond. As the Soviet Union falls, they are turning entire populations into their own kind, or rendering them helpless herds. The forces of Night have overrun India, the far East, and the great cities of North and South America, and are now turning their attention to the countryside. In a small town on the New Jersey shore, the vampires have arrived, accompanied by their human henchmen, the cowboys, who round up human cattle for the overlords in return for the promise of eternal life. A local Catholic congregation is in chaos, with its superior having betrayed its trust and become a vampire. A young woman, escaped from the conquest of New York, has made her way south to find her uncle, who is hiding in a basement, awaiting his fate. With the help of a Rabbi, who is shaken by the vampires' fear of the cross and holy water, they plan a resistance against their oppressors.
