Description

The comedies of Titus Maccius Plautus are cornerstones of European theatrical tradition, influencing writers from Shakespeare to modern times. Twenty-one of his plays have survived complete.

Published in 2011, this edition brings one of these surviving plays to readers. The work is a brilliant adaptation of Greek plays for Roman audiences, written around 205-184 BC.

The play is presented here in its original form, allowing readers to experience the earliest Latin works to survive complete and gain insight into the development of Western theatre.
