Description

Memorias del calabozo is a powerful account of life in prison and its impact on those who experienced it. Written by Mauricio Rosencof and Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro, this book tells the story of the Tupamaros, a group of Uruguayans who were imprisoned and subjected to torture during the country's military dictatorship. The book is based on the testimonies of these prisoners, who found ways to communicate with each other despite the harsh conditions. Their stories are a testament to the human spirit's ability to endure even in the most difficult circumstances. This book celebrates the victory of the human voice over oppression and offers a unique insight into the experiences of those who lived through this period. Published in 2017, Memorias del calabozo is an important work that sheds light on a dark chapter in Uruguay's history.
