Description

Judy and Jiaying, two women from different worlds, find themselves brought together by circumstance in Seoul. Both have fled past relationships that ended in violence, Judy escaping a tumultuous romance in Tokyo and Jiaying fleeing the aftermath of war-torn China. As they navigate their new lives as backpackers in South Korea, the two women struggle to come to terms with their own personal demons. Their arrival in Seoul coincides with growing anti-American sentiment on the streets, as South Koreans protest against US troops stationed in their country and the perceived influence of Western powers. Through their experiences, Masked Dolls explores themes of identity, culture, and the complexities of human relationships, set against the backdrop of a tumultuous world.
