Description

Mary Shelley's story begins with a dream and a passion for reading. As a young girl, she learns to read by tracing letters on her mother's tombstone, and finds solace in the stories that transport her from her difficult home life.

As Mary grows older, she seeks independence and meets like-minded dreamers who share her love of literature and adventure. A chance encounter with a poet sparks an idea for a ghost story, which becomes the basis for one of the most enduring horror novels ever written.

This picture book biography explores the process of artistic inspiration that led to Mary Shelley's creation of Frankenstein, a novel that has captivated readers for centuries.
