Description

Mary Nohl Inside & Outside: Biography of the Artist Barbara Manger's biography offers a comprehensive look into the life of an unusual artist whose surroundings stand as a monument to her creative personality. Mary Nohl, known for her idiosyncratic art and wildly decorated yard, has attracted generations of visitors who were drawn to the intrigue surrounding her work. Nohl's artistic creations, made from a wide range of materials including castoff items, are highly alluring, but it was rare for those who visited her yard to catch a glimpse of the artist herself. This book establishes Nohl as a notable "outsider" artist and provides an inside look at her life and art. The John Michael Kohler Arts Center's efforts to restore and conserve Nohl's house and concrete works are also documented in this edition, which includes an epilogue.
