Description
Mario Giacomelli's landscapes are both real and invented, his gaze visionary and visual at the same time. This is the starting point for representing an alternative situation. His "terre scritte" - lands written down - where the horizon is almost entirely eliminated: a blend of time and non-time. In his landscapes, the relationship between countryside and memory, Giacomelli and a neglected yet accepted earth, becomes more dramatic.
His work is characterized by its richness in internal references and developments, making it unmistakable. This series of landscape shots, particularly, takes us on a journey starting from small details of nature that carry an human breath within them. As an alchemist of the gaze, Giacomelli transforms images into "doppio visivo" - a double vision.
These works are also closely related to another important chapter in his oeuvre: "Motivo suggerito dal taglio dell'albero". Both researches demonstrate his approach and construction method. In this series of shots, Giacomelli takes us on a journey from the smallest natural details, where we can sense a human breath, transforming images into something new.
