Description
Mariana Pineda was executed in 1831 for her refusal to betray her leaders. She had been arrested and imprisoned after sewing the flag that would become the symbol of a liberal uprising.
The Spanish authorities offered her freedom if she would reveal the names of her fellow rebels, but Mariana refused to cooperate. Her decision sealed her fate.
This account of Mariana Pineda's life is a powerful exploration of courage and conviction in the face of overwhelming oppression.
