Description
In "Mapa de los sonidos de Tokio", Isabel Coixet weaves a complex and intriguing tale of love, loss, and obsession. After the tragic death of his daughter, a wealthy Japanese businessman becomes fixated on finding revenge, while his Catalan partner struggles to move on from their past.
The story is told through the eyes of an engineer who becomes infatuated with a mysterious woman named Ryu, whose enigmatic presence seems to captivate those around her. As he tries to understand her, he begins to record the sounds that surround her, from the bustling streets of Tsujiki market to the quiet moments in the city's cemeteries.
But there is more to Ryu than meets the eye: she leads a double life as an assassin for hire. As the narrative unfolds, Coixet masterfully explores the darker corners of human nature and the blurred lines between love, desire, and obsession.
