Description

The relationship between popular music and film has become increasingly intertwined. Many mainstream films feature songs that are used for publicity purposes and appear on soundtrack albums. These musical moments can be striking, creating memorable scenes in cinema. Kevin Donnelly explores the history of this connection, from the impact of rock'n'roll in the mid-1950s to the technical aspects of music composition for film. The book provides a comprehensive survey of the intersection of popular music and film, with chapters that discuss various films and musicians, as well as in-depth case studies of individual movies. The book includes an accompanying website and timeline, offering a useful framework for understanding this complex relationship between art forms.
