Description
Lola Álvarez Bravo Picturing Mexico by Karen Cordero Reiman is a stunning volume that explores the life and work of one of Mexico's most influential photographers. Through her personal lens, Álvarez Bravo captured a pivotal moment in her country's history, documenting its transformation and cultural renaissance. This book delves into a lesser-known aspect of Álvarez Bravo's oeuvre, revealing her unique approach to urban and rural landscapes, as well as her portraits of prominent modernist figures. It also examines her role in shaping the legacy of post-Revolutionary Mexico, and how she engaged with other artists, filmmakers, and writers of her time. By shedding new light on Álvarez Bravo's work, this publication offers a fresh perspective on the intersection of art, culture, and politics in early 20th-century Mexico.
