Description

This poignant novel in verse tells the true story of a boy's harrowing experience on a lifeboat after surviving a torpedo attack during World War II. Ken, a 13-year-old boy, is forced to escape London as his stepmother's suspicions about him become unbearable.

Life aboard the luxury ship, the SS City of Benares, seems grand at first - with nine-course meals and new friends - but the reality of their situation soon sets in. The ship's officers announce they're out of danger, only to be torpedoed just five days later, sending Ken into a desperate fight for survival.

A gripping account of one boy's struggle to stay alive, this book is a powerful exploration of courage and resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity.
