Born on Cape Hope Island in 1936, Mini Aodla Freeman recounts her life-changing decision to leave home at the age of sixteen and pursue nurse's training. Her story is one of cultural displacement and adaptation, as she navigated the challenges of a new world while remaining true to her Inuit heritage.
This reissue of Life Among the Qallunaat includes new material, an interview with the author, and an afterword by Keavy Martin and Julie Rak. It is the third book in the First Voices, First Texts series, which publishes important works by Indigenous writers that have been lost or underappreciated.
