Description
Samuel T. Francis's magnum opus on political theory and the history of the modern world is now available in this long-awaited edition. Published posthumously, Leviathan and Its Enemies explores the emergence of a new ruling elite in 20th-century society, driven by the growth of giant corporations, government power, and mass organizations. Francis argues that this shift led to the replacement of traditional bourgeois elites with a "managerial elite" with its own world outlook, hostile to remnants of the old order. This edition includes new introductory and critical essays by leading scholars, providing fresh insights into Francis's ideas and their relevance today.
