Description
New Testament letters are compared with private, business, and administrative letters from Greco-Roman antiquity to gain insight into their composition. Over 11,800 Greek and Latin letters have been edited, including examples of short notes and extensive correspondences from educated authors. These letters provide valuable information about the literary skills of Paul of Tarsus and his use of epistolary formulas. They also raise questions about the authors and genre of some New Testament letters, highlighting the need for ongoing research in this field. This volume presents new research results and over 130 papyrus and ostracon letters newly translated in their entirety. The book offers a fresh perspective on the study of New Testament letters, drawing on the latest scholarship to shed light on their composition and significance.
