Description
Les Paul: Guitar Wizard tells the story of a musical innovator who pioneered the solid body electric guitar and multi-track recording. From experimenting with his mother's player piano and phonograph as a child, to developing his own amplifier and tinkering with crystal radios, Les Paul's fascination with musical technology drove him to create new sounds. As he pursued a career in music, Les Paul overcame physical challenges and found success in various cities, including Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. He became a regular on the radio and appeared on early television shows, including his own show with partner Mary Ford. This biography explores Les Paul's life and legacy, including his contributions to music technology. The book includes sidebars on radio call letters and how an electric guitar works, as well as over 60 historic photographs. A full discography is also included, providing a comprehensive look at Les Paul's musical career.
