Description
León el Africano by Amin Maalouf is a historical novel based on a real figure from 15th-century Spain. The story follows Hasan, also known as León the African, as he embarks on an extraordinary journey across Africa and Europe. In 1492, Hasan was born in Granada, just before the year of his famous name. He travels extensively throughout Africa, absorbing both Eastern and Western cultures, which he later shares with two influential figures: Pope Leo X and Cardinal de Médicis in Renaissance Rome. Amin Maalouf is a renowned French novelist, journalist, and essayist born in Lebanon in 1949. His work has been widely acclaimed, including the Maison de Presse award for his novel Samarcanda and the Goncourt prize for "The Rock of Tanios".
