Description
Las mamás belgas: la lucha de un grupo de enfermeras contra Franco y Hitler
A group of volunteers from Eastern Europe, who met in Barcelona before heading to a war hospital in Onteniente, united by their cause to fight fascism in the Spanish War. This photograph is the starting point for Sven Tuytens' investigation into the lives of these women, who were given the affectionate nickname "Las mamás belgas".
Some of these women fought in armed resistance during World War II, while others were killed in concentration camps for their solidarity, sacrifice and dedication. This book brings back to life their story, which had been forgotten.
