In 1879, a young Jewish family fled persecution in Poland and settled in England. Two brothers, Morris and David Langbourne, began work in a cigarette factory but soon found themselves struggling to make ends meet. After their mother's death, they turned to each other for support, deciding to take matters into their own hands. The brothers set sail for Africa in 1891, arriving in Port Elizabeth, South Africa with no family or friends to turn to. With limited knowledge of the continent and its dangers, they sought out a tobacco farmer who could teach them about the local customs and ways of life. They befriended Nguni, a large and well-muscled man from the Xhosa tribe, who introduced them to the African bush and its incredible wildlife. As they learned to adapt to their new surroundings, the brothers discovered that taking on an international corporation would be a far greater challenge than they had anticipated.
