Description
Lapland's darkest secret: a story of war, oppression and survival. In 1944, Finland was invaded by Nazi forces, and amidst the chaos, a young soldier is forced to work as an interpreter at a prison camp. The atrocities he witnesses leave him struggling to hold onto his humanity. Years later, journalist Inkeri sets out to uncover the truth about her husband's disappearance during the war. Her investigation leads her to a remote community in Western Lapland, where she discovers a web of tension and suspicion that threatens to surface the dark secrets of the past. As she digs deeper, Inkeri must confront the harsh realities of Finland's hidden history and the ongoing impact of its brutal legacy. Set against the stark beauty of the polar landscape, this gripping novel sheds light on a shameful chapter in Finnish history, revealing the silenced stories and ongoing oppression that have haunted the region for decades.
