Description

Laika is a poignant collection of 20 poems that explore themes of love and loss, isolation, queerness, coming of age, and womanhood. Addressed to the Soviet dog who perished in space, these lyrics form an astonishing lament.

The poems are written by Maggie Olszewski, whose work has appeared in Jasper magazine and won several awards, including a national gold medal from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in 2019. Laika is her latest publication, published by Black Sunflowers Poetry Press in 2021.
