Description
The King-Cat Classix collects material from the first fifty issues of John Porcellino's King-Cat Comics, as they appeared in self-published zines throughout the 1990s. This collection showcases Porcellino's dynamic evolution from saturated punk drawings to his characteristic refined minimalism. Through these strips, we see a nascent style steeped in truth and transparency, featuring beloved pets, everyday blunders, and fragmented moments of interaction that reflect our messy internal reality. The ink drawings are characterized by uninhibited id, capturing fleeting mental images and externalizing the stream of consciousness that makes us who we are. This groundbreaking collection offers a glimpse into Porcellino's creative process, revealing his work as a catalyst for artists in the emerging literary comics scene.
