Description

Kevin Barry was hanged in 1920 at the age of 16. He had been fighting for an independent Ireland as a member of the Irish Volunteer Army, but his life took a tragic turn when he was involved in the Monk's Bakery Ambush. Born into a family with seven children, Kevin came from humble beginnings. Despite early hardship, he excelled academically and won a scholarship to study medicine. However, his passion for Gaelic football, Hurling, and Rugby led him down a different path. Kevin's decision to forego his future was made in the face of extreme circumstances, ultimately leading to his sacrifice on November 8th, 1920, at Mountjoy Prison.
