Description
Ziba Mir-Hosseini explores how egalitarian gender laws might be constructed from within the Islamic legal framework in this thought-provoking discussion with six influential Muslim intellectuals.
Today, the idea of gender equality presents a challenge to established, patriarchal interpretations of Shari'a. The author examines how these interpretations can be reinterpreted to promote greater justice and equality for women.
This book offers a nuanced exploration of the complex relationships between Islamic law, gender, and social change.
