Description

Jona Frank's portrait series captures the essence of modern youth at an amateur boxing club in Liverpool. Shirtless and sweaty, these young men exude a sense of vulnerability as they don their colorful gloves. A record of a sport and community that is slowly fading away, Frank's photographs offer a poignant glimpse into the lives of adolescents trying to find their place. The suburb where this project was made is characterized by a blend of past and present, with boxing holding a unique position within it. Frank's work provides a snapshot of a world that is rapidly changing, yet still clinging to traditional values. Published in 2015, this book presents a powerful and thought-provoking portrayal of contemporary youth culture.
