Description

John Piper's Brighton Aquatints brings together John Piper's iconic monochrome and coloured prints of Brighton's architecture in one volume. Originally published in 1939, this unique 'artist's book' showcases the seaside resort's most striking landmarks, from the Royal Pavilion to its stuccoed terraces. A special edition of 250 copies was hand-coloured by John Piper with the assistance of poet and critic John Betjeman, creating a truly distinctive work. This new edition reunites Piper's prints with his accompanying descriptions for the first time, accompanied by an introduction and commentary from art historian Alan Powers.
