Description

Scotland in 1504 offers a fresh perspective through the eyes of Ellen and Anne, two Moorish women who arrive at a royal court with unexpected ambitions. They must fight to claim their place within the dazzling yet treacherous world of James IV's court. This play by Rona Munro explores a lesser-known period of Scottish history, where war and politics entwine with words of love and deception. With its rich historical context and poetic themes, James IV: Queen of the Fight is a gripping portrayal of life in 16th-century Scotland. First presented in 2022, this book was directed by Laurie Sansom and follows Munro's previous plays about James I, II, and III, which were well-received by audiences and critics alike.
