Description

Set against the backdrop of 1960s Britain, this novel follows Jake Nelson, a young farmer's boy with a reputation for seducing women, as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery in London.

After being shamed into leaving his rural home, Jake finds himself catapulted into a world of rent-boys, men-only bars, and less prejudice than he ever experienced in Yorkshire. He becomes embroiled with the charismatic pop entrepreneur Tommy Vincent, who employs him as chauffeur to a homophobic crooner, Lennie Stevens.

As Jake navigates this new world, he meets Ricky Ross, a "Dilly Boy" with whom he finds himself falling in love. However, his journey is not without its challenges, including tragedy and prejudice, which ultimately compels him to return to Yorkshire, taking Ricky with him.
