Description
Jackself is a unique and captivating collection from Jacob Polley, one of Britain's finest poets. This fourth collection weaves together elements of English folklore to tell a story that is both playful and terrifying.
The poems in Jackself explore the darker corners of childhood and innocence, drawing on traditional nursery rhymes, riddles, and cautionary tales. With its use of 'Jacks' from English legend, phrase, and fable, this book offers a fresh and imaginative take on the possibilities of the transcendent.
With its blend of song-like rhythms and narratively compelling storytelling, Jackself is an unforgettable read that confirms Jacob Polley's position as one of the most singular imaginations at work in poetry today.
