Description
Ishiuchi Miyako: Postwar Shadows is a collection of photographs by Amanda Maddox that explores the work of Japanese photographer Ishiuchi Miyako. Born in 1947, Ishiuchi burst onto the photography scene in Tokyo during the mid-1970s, challenging the male-dominated field at the time. Her oeuvre spans over forty years and has quietly influenced generations of photographers born after World War II. This book features a selection of more than 100 works by Ishiuchi, including her early projects that explored the American occupation and its lasting impact on post-war Japan.
