Description

Interesting Times is a Discworld novel that combines humor and fantasy in a unique way. The story takes place on a flat planet balanced on the back of four elephants, which stand on the back of a giant turtle.

A curse has been placed upon the citizens of this world, wishing them "may you live in interesting times". However, for Rincewind, a character who has had far too much perilous excitement in his life, this is a particularly unwelcome fate. When a request for a Great Wizzard arrives from the Counterweight Continent, Rincewind is sent as emissary to the oldest empire on the Disc.

The situation is dire, with Chaos building and an impending war looming. Despite being too old and unlucky for his own good, Rincewind owes it to the world to keep himself alive for as long as possible. The Discworld novels can be read in any order, but Interesting Times is the fifth book in the Wizards series.
