Description
This collection of essays offers a realistic and human perspective on qualitative research methods. Real researchers share their personal stories of methodological and ethical struggles, providing insight into the research approach used and the issues that arose during the process.
Authors describe their experiences with key challenges such as gaining entry, overlapping roles, differential power relationships, confidentiality concerns, and the influence of a researcher's philosophy or theoretical framework. This unique framework helps students gain an overview of qualitative research methods and their underlying processes.
The book explores how researchers understand phenomena using approaches that engage archival knowledge, narrative knowledge, or observational knowledge. By hearing from scholars whose personal stories intersect with their research projects, readers can gain a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in qualitative research.
