Description
London's history has long been told from a single perspective. In "Indigenous London", historian Coll Thrush offers a fresh vision of the city's past, drawing together the stories of Indigenous children, women, and men who traveled there over five centuries. From captives to diplomats, missionaries to shamans, these individuals left an indelible mark on the city that became a global, imperial metropolis. Their experiences with a changing urban culture illustrate how London learned to navigate its complex relationships with diverse communities. By exploring the lives of those often overlooked in traditional histories, Thrush sheds new light on the processes that shaped London into the city it is today.
