Description
Christa Ludwig's memoirs offer a unique glimpse into the life of one of the 20th century's most renowned vocal artists. Born in Berlin in 1928, Christa's journey to stardom was marked by both triumph and adversity. As a child, Christa's love of music was silenced under the Third Reich, replaced by fear and deprivation. Yet, upon its end, her mezzo-soprano voice brought her almost immediate recognition, launching a career that spanned over 50 years. With dozens of roles to her name, from operatic leads to memorable supporting parts, Christa's story is one of perseverance and dedication. This memoir provides an intimate look at Christa Ludwig's remarkable life, from her early days as a young singer to her farewell appearance on stage in 1994.
