Description
Kurt Tong's photographs explore the changing traditions of Chinese culture, particularly in relation to the burning of joss paper for ancestors. In recent years, these rituals have evolved to reflect consumerist desires, with elaborate paper products such as designer handbags and luxury items being burned for the deceased.
Through his work, Tong examines the intersection of traditional customs and modern society, shedding light on the complexities of cultural identity in China. His photographs are a thought-provoking commentary on the ways in which our values and practices evolve over time.
This book presents a unique perspective on the evolution of Chinese culture, one that challenges readers to consider the nuances of tradition and consumerism in modern society.
