Six aspiring authors gather to discuss their work, but enthusiasm is in short supply. A writer struggling with historical romances, another with children's literature, and a crime writer who can't stop all find themselves at odds. Meanwhile, a science fiction creator, a librettist without a partner, and the Writer's Circle chairman - who produces instruction booklets - round out the group. The chairman attempts to spark creativity by suggesting collaboration on a piece of writing, but his idea is met with lukewarm reception. However, as he clears up after the meeting, a sudden storm forces him to witness an alternate story unfold before his eyes. Sharp comedy and affectionate satire characterize this imaginative play, which pokes fun at the challenges of creative endeavour.
