Ian McKeever Against Architecture documents the artist's first foray into installation art. British artist Ian McKeever has been working internationally for over five decades. This publication showcases his latest exhibition, Against Architecture, which was first presented at Matt's Gallery, London in 2017 before being reconceived and presented again at TheGallery, Arts University Bournemouth in 2023. The exhibition challenged the conventional gallery space by building a structure with timber and plasterboard, bringing the viewer's body into dialogue with their surroundings and the artworks. McKeever combined his abstract paintings with photographs to pose formal questions about perception, visual languages, and modes of representation. An essay by Berlin-based English arts writer Mark Prince explores these ideas. The book features a series of McKeever's works, including photo/painted panels, alongside an analysis of the artist's approach to installation art.
