Description

Housing Strategies for Urban Redensification by Miquel Adrià presents alternative approaches to urban housing that challenge traditional expansionist models. This reader explores case studies of innovative social housing projects from the past century, which have incorporated methods of redensification as a corrective measure.

These projects, spanning from the 1920s to recent experiments in Mexico, offer solutions to countries experiencing intense population growth and provide sanctuary for those who have lost their homes in natural disasters. By examining these developments, Adrià sheds light on the intricate relationship between urban housing and modernism.

The book provides a nuanced understanding of the need for redensification as a response to the limitations of traditional urban planning. With its focus on innovative alternatives, Housing Strategies for Urban Redensification is an insightful exploration of the complexities of urban development.
