Description

Billy Joe Shaver's life story is one of raw honesty and resilience. Born into hardship, he found solace in music, which became his escape and passion. With the assistance of Brad Reagan, Shaver recounts his journey from struggling songwriter to successful musician, sharing stories of triumph and tragedy. Shaver's experiences in the music industry are marked by both success and struggle. He recalls the landmark album Honky Tonk Heroes, which brought him recognition, as well as his personal struggles with addiction and loss. This autobiography offers a unique glimpse into the life of a true original, whose songs have been recorded by some of country music's biggest names. Through Shaver's story, we see a man who has lived a life full of hard times and wild living, yet remains true to himself and his art. His music is a testament to the power of poetry and storytelling, and this autobiography provides a moving and intimate look at the man behind the songs.
