Description
A former senior Chinese Administrative Officer shares his experiences in the upper reaches of the colonial administration during the 1970s. David T. K. Wong's memoir offers a unique insight into the complexities of serving multiple masters, as he struggled to balance his duties to the people of Hong Kong, the wider Chinese nation, and the British crown. Wong's story is one of cultural identity and loyalty, as he navigated the demands of his role with a three-horned dilemma. This memoir provides a valuable contribution to our understanding of a dynamic and paradoxical community living through turbulent times. Through his narrative skills, Wong has produced a pungent and cerebral insider account that sheds light on the inner workings of the colonial administration.
